Qatar Airways Economy Class has been voted Best in the World in the annual 2009 Skytrax passenger survey, in which more than 16 million travellers were polled. Already ranked Five Star for service and excellence by Skytrax, the independent aviation industry monitoring agency also voted 'Qatar Airways cabin crew Best in the Middle East' for the seventh year running and 'Best Airline in the Middle East' for the fourth consecutive year in 2009.

In addition, Qatar Airways global ranking has risen commendably in the Skytrax survey, up three places to fourth best in the world – the highest placing of any Middle East carrier.

Starting December 2009, Qatar Airways launched scheduled flights to Melbourne, Australia for the first time. In addition, it has increased its capacity to India to 10 destinations by adding Amritsar and Goa to its Indian network, while two new routes will be added in Europe.

Qatar Airways flies one of the youngest and most modern fleet of aircraft in the skies today. Our expansion is phenomenal with ongoing orders for more than 200 aircraft worth over US$30 billion.

The airline will operate a fleet of 110 aircraft by 2013 – almost double the existing size. During 2007, Qatar Airways ordered 80 Airbus A350s, together with 60 Boeing 787s and 32 Boeing 777s. It has ordered five of the twin-deck Airbus A380 ‘super jumbos’ for delivery from 2012.

The interactive service includes over 150 international movies, 150 TV programmes from around the world, and more than 50 games and 500 audio CDs to choose from.
